Prof. Iqbal Ahmad has more than 25 years of teaching and research experience in microbiology with special research focus on applied microbiology. I am actively engaged in coordinating multidisciplinary research and teaching assignments. I have done pioneering research on plasmid mediated drug resistance and virulence factors in enteric bacteria and strategies to combat drug resistance and virulence of pathogenic microbes through screening and evaluation of Indian medicinal plant derived herbal products/extracts and phytocompounds especially targeting quorum sensing, biofilms, and virulence of pathogenic microorganisms.
My role in ResPHARM is to examine the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) from pharmaceutical waste. I will be responsible for the maintenance of bacterial cultures and their biochemical and molecular characterization. The genotypic characterization of resistant genes of ARB is by PCR is another aspect that I am contributing.
